How to live life through your
ESSENCE
Why is finding 'your essence' important for people? Nowadays, more and more people are interested in spiritual development, not only to understand more about life but maybe also to find a way to evolve into a 'improved' human being. Or could it just be to find a little more happiness, love and security?
But let's assume that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. This so called ‘spiritual being’ is our true essence, and our ‘human experience’ is created by our personality – based on the beliefs and identities that we have acquired throughout the course of our lives.
Your personality, also know as the ego, has been shaped by your environment and by the ways that you have adapted to events and coped with situations. Your ego and your essence are both part of your wholeness, but the ego can become so dominant and complex that the 'light' of your true essence becomes hidden. Therefore the whispering of your true essence (intuition) will be hardly noticeable.
Many people are reaching the point where they become vaguely aware of this disconnection and they start to ask deeper questions like: Why am I here? Who am I? Why do I feel so much resistance to life? How to feel good enough? The answers to these questions will emerge when they start to remember their true nature, and the first step is to become consciously aware of the separation between their ego-personality and their essence.
WHAT IS NOT YOUR ESSENCE?
Let's start with explaining what is not your essence because that's most easy to explain and to recognise:
- You are identified with your life story, your ego-identity.
- You are taking thoughts and feelings very seriously. Are you your thinking mind?
- You are judgmental towards others and tend to judge yourself.
- You are fearful towards the unknown future.
- You don't like to change - you don't know how it's even possible.
This is very common and is caused by the way our mind is dealing with reality and life. Our past experiences, especcially during our upbringing, laid the foundation for who we think we are. So, when you have started to work on your spiritual development but didn't discover your essence yet, maybe some things are getting in the way:
- Is your critical inner voice tearing you down and continuously telling you that you're not good enough?
- Are you living life for everyone else, feeling weighed down by should's, need to's and have to's, while ignoring what makes you happy?
- Have you ever lost faith and belief in yourself, and you doubt whether your dreams and desires are actually possible?
- Have you been struggling to love yourself, feel happy in your skin, confident, worthy, deserving and proud of who you are?
- Are you holding back out of fear of being judged, making a mistake, failing, getting it wrong and losing the love and acceptance of others?
- Do sneaky patterns of sabotage, procrastination and avoidance keep blocking you creating the change you are craving?

how to discover your essence?

- Self-worth

- Negative feelings
- Burden (shadow)
- Inner compass
THINKING MIND
SOUL
People tend to think they are very consciously aware of themselves and know exactly who they are. But in reality, they are not really aware of their own ego-patterns, subconscious reactions, emotional blockages and limiting beliefs. When people experience inner struggles or strong fear-based thoughts and feelings, they might experience being them. True self-awareness offers a different way to deal with them and to become more genuine and feel more peaceful.
Our sense of happiness is part of our sense of well-being. This means that we have to take a look at how we experience life and how we behave on a daily basis. Most people live their lives according to what they have learned during their lives. They might think that they are defined by their life story. They might believe that thoughts and feelings are a big part of their identity.
my mission
Hi there,
I am Henk van der Ven, a licensed Holistic therapist and Transformational coach since 2010. I studied in The Netherlands and immigrated to New Zealand in 2017.
I believe that a better understanding of our mind, soul, feelings and past conditioning is truly essential to become a more conscious, happy and genuine human being.
My mission is to help people to 'travel light' through life by gaining important insights about self-empowerment, self-acceptance, self-trust and self-love.
It all starts with introducing self-awareness of the ego, understanding resistance and of course self-inquiry.
Dealing with their past is for most people a challenge and that's why I like to approach this in a different way.
What to let go, and what to question about old limiting beliefs and stories?
How to change your perspective on any situation?
How to witness your feelings and thoughts from a distance?
It's all about knowing where you are now and learn how your transformation can take place as a natural process in life.
My favourite spiritual teachers are Eckhart Tolle, Michael Singer, dr. Joe Dispenza, Jeff Foster, dr. Bruce Lipton and Allan Watts.
